Bet you couldn't tell. Well, maybe you could. At any rate, I upgraded to a beta template and customized the layout and as you can see, I was able to recreate the old version fairly well. The main reason for the change is that it will now be a snap to add links, if I should desire, and I can have categories. I've already made one for Thursday Challenge and hope to add a few of my fav subjects: Sunsets, Empire State Building, and so on in the coming days.
I would like to narrow the sidebar, but I haven't figured out how to do that, yet.
It lost my comment! Now I know why exactly I haven't gone beta yet. Let us know if you have any other problems.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try leaving it under anonymous. I think if I remember correctly it said it won't recognize the old log-ins or something. Urgggg --- Robbie
Robbie, I've been able to comment on beta blogs with my google account login which is what beta uses. It's non-beta ones I can't comment on.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem is when people don't take anonymous commenting. But so far, switching to beta has been great and if I'm inconvenienced a bit for commenting, then I'll still be ahead of the curve in getting comfortable with the templates and have my categories in place. I will not be upgrading all my templates, tho.
No hicups in your feed with the switch to the beta blogger. It won't let me switch, try as I might.
ReplyDeleteThe feed should be the same, as is the URL. Only the editing on my side has changed as I upgraded the template and now can use categories and the quick edit screens.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Shelly. I wasn't worried so much about my commenting but those who come around having to re-up themselves in order to comment. Well, and I'll have to get the new log in too. I think I'll wait it out a bit.
ReplyDelete:-) Robbie
Hi, Robbie,
ReplyDeleteI already had a Google account, for gmail and a personalized Google page and emailed news alerts, so it was easy to create a beta account, since I already had a login.
Karen was able to comment on one of my blogs by using preview first. I can't wait til everyone's on beta so all the logins will be recognized by the system. :)
