Alwyn Court Apartments, built in 1907-09, is a designated landmark in New York City. Located on Seventh Avenue and West 58th Street, the intricate building is an example of terra cotta construction. From the New York Architecture site:
"The façade follows the style of François I, whose reign saw the building of some of the finest Loire Valley chateaux, and whose symbol, a crowned salamander, can be seen above the entrance to the building at 58th St. "
